Days 1-15, Iran War Rundown

As I am writing this, it is day 15 of this war. My plan for this entry is to pick up where Entry 2 left off. Assuming you know the context, motives, and history behind this war, here is a day by day breakdown of what the fuck is happening.

Feb. 28 2026, Day 1 US/Israeli forces launched nearly 900 strikes in 12 hours. This among other destruction led to the death of the Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. He died along with his family and 40+ senior officials that we know of. His daughter, son-in-law, grandchild, and daughter-in-law are dead. One of the missiles hit an all-girls school next to a naval base. 170 dead. Israel denies this happened. Iran calls it a war crime. To retaliate Iran immediately launches hundreds of drones and ballistic missiles at Israel and US military bases across the region.

March 1 2026, Day 2 First thing is that the death of Khamenei is confirmed by media along with chief of staff. A US submarine sinks an Iranian ship. 87 dead. Another warship gets hit in port by a US/Israeli strike. Images show Natanz nuclear facility has sustained damage; IAEA confirms entrance buildings damaged but no radiological consequences expected thank god.

March 2 2026, Day 3 (I'm not going to lie I took a break here, it is now day 18 of the war.) Hezbollah enters the conflict, launching missiles and drones into Israel and prompting an escalation in Israeli airstrikes. Kurdish armed group PJAK reportedly begins a military offensive into Iranian territory from Iraq.

March 3 2026, Day 4 Iran's state broadcaster HQ is struck in a separate Israeli air operation in the early hours; Iran's parliament building also reportedly targeted. The US embassy in Riyadh is struck by two Iranian drones. Britain's RAF Akrotiri base in Cyprus is struck by a drone — the first attack on the British base since 1986.

March 4 2026, Day 5 UK PM Starmer states the US can use Diego Garcia and RAF Fairford for a "specific and limited defensive purpose" to destroy Iranian missiles at source; he says the UK will not join offensive operations. Bull fucking shit UK. You're supporting US, fuck off. Iranian missile and drone launch rate begins declining from the war's opening pace; analysts cite depletion of stores and a strategy of rationing for a longer conflict.

March 5 2026, Day 6 Iran has now fired over 500 ballistic and naval missiles and nearly 2,000 drones since February 28; roughly 40% aimed at Israel, 60% at US targets in the region. Iran continues waves of drone and missile attacks across Gulf states hosting US military assets.

March 6 2026, Day 7 Israeli airstrikes hit Hezbollah infrastructure in Beirut's southern suburbs, escalating the Lebanon front. Iran announces attempts to strike oil refineries inside Israel.

March 7 2026, Day 8 Officially a week in. Death toll: at least 1,332 killed in Iran, 200+ in Lebanon, 11 in Israel, 6 US servicemen dead; the UN estimates 330,000 people displaced across the region. Trump demands "unconditional surrender" from Iran, stating there will be no deal without it. So yeah, fuck you Trump. Sorry, I'm pissed. Iranian Red Crescent reports over 6,668 civilian units have been targeted by US-Israeli strikes, including schools, hospitals, and cultural heritage sites.

March 8 2026, Day 9 Hezbollah attack activity stabilizes at approximately 30 waves per day against Israel. Iranian military death toll estimated at 2,100+ by human rights monitors. Iran-backed groups intensify drone attacks on US assets in Iraq and the Kurdish region.

March 9 2026, Day 10 Since the war began, 186 Iranian attack waves against Israel recorded; Tel Aviv is the primary target, hit by 73 waves. Syria condemns Iranian attacks on Arab states; Damascus calls for a joint Arab position against Iran's actions.

March 10 2026, Day 11 An Iranian missile with a cluster warhead strikes central Israel, killing two civilians in the city of Yehud; 14 civilians killed in Israel total since the start of the war. Iranian military death toll now estimated at 4,000+ by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights. Thailand's cargo ship was struck and set ablaze in the Strait of Hormuz; Bangkok formally protests to Iran and demands an apology. Dude, as I'm reporting this, more and more countries keep joining.

March 11 2026, Day 12 Mojtaba Khamenei appointed as Iran's new Supreme Leader, following his father Ali's assassination.

March 12 2026, Day 13 A US refueling plane goes down in Iraq; all 6 crew members are killed — US military says it was not hit by hostile or friendly fire. Um, US, what are you on? It just mysteriously fell? Mojtaba Khamenei's first statement is read on Iranian state media, calling for the Strait of Hormuz to remain closed as "a tool of pressure." Now I personally think this move will make the US have to find somewhere else to get oil/gas imports. The strait is very important for worldwide trade and due to the war you now see very little activity for boats passing through. Oh, here you go. Trump administration issues a new license allowing temporary purchases of certain Russian oil products. A French soldier is killed in an attack in Erbil, Iraq; President Macron calls it unacceptable. Asian markets plunge sharply: South Korea's KOSPI falls 12.3%, Japan's Nikkei drops 4.7%. This war just keeps escalating on a world scale.

March 13 2026, Day 14 The US announces plans to deploy approximately 2,200 Marines from Okinawa to the Middle East; more than 250 US organizations sign a letter demanding Congress halt war funding. Iran death toll per Human Rights Activists News Agency: at least 1,858 killed including civilians and military.

March 14 2026, Day 15 Iran vows retaliation specifically for the US attack on Kharg Island, escalating the energy infrastructure threat further. Jordan announces its air defenses intercepted 79 of 85 Iranian missiles and drones fired in the second week of the war; five drones and one missile landed inside Jordanian territory.
